Itinerary
Keflavík to Reykjavík
Collect the rental vehicle at Keflavík Airport and drive to Reykjavík. Depending on arrival time, explore Hallgrímskirkja, the waterfront, Harpa and the central streets independently before your first overnight.
Reykjavík at leisure
Spend a full day in Reykjavík, choosing from museums, galleries, geothermal pools and the old harbour. Use the day to settle into Iceland before the longer driving route begins.
Golden Circle to Vík
Drive through the Golden Circle with independent stops at Þingvellir, the Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss. Continue towards Vík and the black-sand coast, allowing time for weather and road conditions.
South coast to Höfn
Follow the south coast past waterfalls, volcanic landscapes and the glacier country of Vatnajökull National Park. Continue to the Höfn area for the night; any glacier or lagoon activity requires separate booking.
Höfn through the Eastfjords
Travel north through the Eastfjords, where winding coastal roads connect small fishing communities and mountain-backed inlets. The confirmed overnight base must be checked before the day's route is finalised.
East Iceland to Húsavík
Continue into North Iceland towards Húsavík. Explore the harbour and maritime town independently or add a whale-watching excursion if schedules, weather and availability permit.
Húsavík, Akureyri and west Iceland
Head west via Akureyri, leaving time for a short city stop before the longest driving leg of the itinerary. Continue to the confirmed accommodation on or near the Snæfellsnes Peninsula; exact routing must follow the final hotel and safe driving plan.
Snæfellsnes to Reykjavík
Explore selected landscapes of Snæfellsnes—lava fields, coastal viewpoints and views towards Snæfellsjökull—before returning to Reykjavík for the final night.
Departure
Drive to Keflavík Airport, refuel and return the rental vehicle according to the supplier instructions before your flight.
